Running wire from panel to pool pump

My question is how do I have to run wire and conduit from my panel to my pool pump per code? I prefer to run wire directly into panel and not use a twist lock receptacle. Do you have to bury conduit to the pump or can I run conduit on top of the concrete slab? It is about 4 feet from panel to pump. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
