I've been looking in the NEC 2008 and I thought before that a safety cable had to be attached from the luminaire to the building structure.
We have 400W metal halide fixtures throughout our facility that are supported with an eyebolt and beam clamp and the fixture hook hung in the eyebolt.
We have same type of fixtures hung in some places on messenger cable and also florescent lights hung to building structure with sash chain.
None of these fixtures have safety cable attached to the building structure.
Does the code require safety cables? If so where do I find it in the code book?
Thanks for any help you can give me,
George Muether
