That's an interesting concept. Not sure what the benefits would really be for using this system?

Imagine now homeowners being able to change light fixtures at will without contacting electricians!
Neat idea but the code may have to catch up to this product as it being a "receptacle outlet" will it need to be gfci protected in area's which require it for other receptacles. Uh-Oh.

This has been addressed in the 2017 edition by modifying the definition of a receptacle.
Seems like a neat idea. Have not seen one yet. Remains to be seen if the market place feels the same. From my understanding there is talk of getting light fixture manufacturers on board with this to supply the fixture half of it.
 
How would this differ electrically and code wise from track lighting? Matter of fact aren't there single lighting receptacles that get installed on a ceiling box for a single track light head?

After removing and reinstalling three ceiling fans, small screws, and holding the fan while trying to install the canopy, I am all for this type of device....
