Hi All,
Had a job at a camp ground yesterday. Customers camper was intermittently tripping the 50 amp 240V breaker. He also said the meter was not turning when a load was applied.

Work through the system, no separation of grounds and neutrals at the sub-panel where the breaker was located. No ground rods, multiple ground wires under the lug on the 50 amp receptacle for the camper. Pulled the camp ground owned site meter for the camper and found one set of terminal prongs spread wide, then noticed that the jumper on the back of the meter was un-jumped. Did a quick search on the internet and found it was a conversion for 120 vs 240 volt, so reconnected the jumper. Amazing the meter spun under load.
I assume the jumper has something to do with a transformer feed in the meter allowing for both 120 and 240 v.
Questions:
Would feeding the meter with 240 when it was wired for 120 damage the meter or affect it's accuracy?
Would it have any impact on the intermittent tripping 50 amp breaker?
Thanx in advance.
Dj
