Hello all,
I’m looking for some options on what to do about a disconnect location for a 40 amp 240 volt sauna that will be located in master bath. I’ll be installing it on a 2 pole gfi/afci breaker but putting a disconnect to serve this location will be difficult as it’s in a stand alone area of the master bath. The sauna is only about 5x5. It will be about 3’ away from the closest wall for a disconnect location but the foundation is a slab. The client doesn’t want the disconnect on that wall or a visible cord or whip for power. If I can convince them to move it closer to the nearest wall, is it acceptable to fit a short cord with a NEMA L14-50 it to serve as disconnect instead of a wall mounted disconnect similar to a standard ac disconnect? Thoughts and ideas are welcome. Thanks

There isn't a 40 amp AFCI made

Just use a breaker lock they're like 5~15 bucks
A breaker lock will override the requirement for a service disconnect when working on the unit? The breakers are at the opposite end of the house.

A GFCI breaker might not even work, the UL standard for dry saunas allows for a large amount of leakage current per heating element. I have a old thread on here about a sauna tripping a GFCI. Strange as it seems I know of no code section requiring a GFCI for a sauna.
