Sauna need gfi ?

Customer has a 120v 2300w sauna. Do saunas need gfi protection ? Didnt see it on nameplate or plug. Also, 2300 w means a little over 19 amps. Very close to 20 amps. Wire and breaker size ? Thank you.
 
Just being a sauna does not invoke GFCI requirement. GFCI may be required depending on where it’s located and what year code you’re on.
While a sauna is not considered continuous load (my opinion), I’d probably opt for a 25A breaker with #10 unless the instructions specified otherwise. I presume it’s hard-wired?

Edit: You mention “plug”. What configuration?
