Has anyone heard of a company called Power Save? Among other devices, they claim people are saving up to 20% on their residential power bill by power factor correction.

There are a mountain of threads on that topic here. The bottom line is that they are selling snake oil.

That's kind of what I thought. But, they were on CBS and have a ton of testimonials.

If you do a search of threads on this site for "Power Save", you will see that the math doesn't add up for most residential applications.

I thought this was brand new so didn't think to search the threads.

Everything has been the same since the wheel was invented and the world was discovered to be some shape other than flat

This thing flares up every couple of months ~ like the snake oil salesman traveling town to town with a horse and carriage :D

No harm done.

I fell for the power save device. I hooked it up to my electrical panel and hoped that I would see the savings along with protecting my electrical equipment. After two months, I did not see any savings and returned the device back for a refund. I ended up being out the return shipping costs and the time I wasted putting this thing in.

Oh well, it was a nice thought..

Don't waste your money..

That was a pretty cheap education. Most would not have bothered to return it.

made a "demo board" similar to what salespeople of these products use.

here are two pix, one without any load, one with only the "power saver" as load.
the "power saver" consumes around 1.89 watts.
