saw pole

Hi; This is Santo Nina. I have a question. Is the saw pole included in the square foot of the house for calculations in residential wiring?. Anybody help will be appreciated.
Thank you all.

Re: saw pole

Bryan: That's a "pole saw," not a "saw pole." :D

In a PM, Santo told me that a "saw pole" was trade slang for the pole on which the utility's power supply tranformer is mounted, and that it is sometimes used to describe temporary power poles.

So to answer the original question, since that pole is not within the footprint of the building, it does not count as part of the square footage for calculation purposes.

But I can't understand the reason for the question. It's only about one or two square foot anyway, so it would not alter the calculation's results. Can you tell me why this is being asked?

Re: saw pole

If the reference is to temporary power, NO the cost is not included (in my utility's service area.) Here, the permit alone for temporary residential service is $400. Any questions, you're the homeowner, you go buy it. Laughed so much at that picture I almost cried.

Re: saw pole

Hey guys, since this does not have anything to do with Electrical Instructor topics, I will move it to a calculation area. Please feel free to continue your discussion there. :)
