UL508A Paragraph SB4.2.1 and Table SB4.1 lists the items required to be included in the SCCR calculations. Wire is not in the list, therefore it is not necessary to account for it.

Thanks for the info.

It just seems likely that in some arrangements, the wire size needed to meet code in a (for instance) low-current panel would not be able to withstand the available SCCR, if it were based strictly on components.

Is there a superseding entry that addresses this? Am I missing something obvious?

Here we go, as best as I can explain. The UL testing of a device uses wire of a certain size, fuse of a certain type & rating, and etc. So long as the device is used with these same parts in accordance with the UL listing, and per the manufacturer's instructions, then the SCCR rating be per the manufacturer data sheet. Where one gets into trouble is if you install the device, and don't follow all of the manufacturer instructions. Hope this is clear and helps.
