The NEC does not stipulate 40 or 80. I do very little with RNC -PVC but I believe we always used schedule 40.

Where are you in VA?

The Ul listing and the 2002 NEC requires sch 80 to be used on poles, as sch 80 is considered suitable for protection from physical damage.

You can use PVC coreduct encased in concrete. Coreduct has wall thickness about 1/2 of schedule 40. It comes in 20 foot lengths.
