Not in stock/available does not mean not made, do not let a vender fool you.

Been told more then once by a counter guy that something was not made just because it was not in his catalog/inventory list.:rant:

Correct. The question is, how deep are they checking to determine if it is in stock or not. What is not immediately available at the local branch, might be available at the regional distribution center, or the supply house's national warehouse in another part of the country. There is also the possibility for stock at the manufacturer or a made-to-order part. The longer the supply chain, the more likely it will mean longer lead times and stipulations of how large the order has to be, so it is best to familiarize yourself with the most common sizes, and plan on using those where possible.
