Scheduling with GCs

Hi everyone,
how do you best manage your schedules when a GC gives you a deadline/agrees to a certain block in your schedule and then isnt ready when they say they will be? they want to tell us “you need to be here by ___,” we build our schedule, they are not ready by then, and then want us there the following week or the week after or basically on standby even though we have others on schedule for weeks-months thereafter?

He'll lie to your face lol. On site I've been told it's ready and I have to point out that they haven't taped and textured yet and then they say oh ya that's another guys job and I say yes so you're not ready then make an angry call to the GC

"Managing expectations" or "what does 'ready' mean?"

Doesn't hurt to have a list of that stuff, like whether the drywall is in and taped or the exterior siding has been installed.
