I am looking for a program to draw up schematics. We continually add circuits of one kind or another at the mine I work at. I don't need a full blown Autocad but something relatively simple. I usually draw up circuits on paper and place them into our files, but would much rather use the computer.

Any thoughts or ideas?

John,
Take a look at the Constructor. It will not only let you draw and print your schematics, it also lets you simulate your circuit to test it before you build it. Note, I have not used this program in a long time...so long that the version that I have used was a DOS program. I am sure that there have been many improvements since then.

May not be for you but check it out to see. It is inexpensive and a good general purpose drawing program.

I have used this for many years when I want to make a quick drawing or schematic without the overhead of ACAD.
I like how it exports "*.wmf" files which are then easily inserted into a word document. Great way to make a professional looking document quickly.

For simple sketching I have been using Microsoft Visio which can be purchased with an electrical symbols library. Visio reminds of the old "Draw" software.

Thanks for the info.

Don, I like the concept of the "Constructor" program. I am trying to get the mine I work at to spring for the software. I think they will go for it.

Also looks like a good training program.

Thanks again,
John
