Our work had slowed down, then about 2 weeks ago a Catholic High School had an arson fire. The fire was limited to the second floor, but all 3 floors had extensive smoke and water damage. There was also smoke damage in the convent. I had to hire a J-man and an apprentice to my crew.
We installed temp lights within hours of the fire. They brought in 3 mobiles that make 2 classrooms each that we got to build service for. We demoed the 8' fluorescents below grid. Most of the raceways above grid were improperly supported or were laying on the grind, so we demoed all of it too.
Overtime was "expected" by the GC, to get the school reopened, and we are still getting overtime. Five 10's. Also, four of us worked today.
T8 troffers, exit/emergencies, all new devices, new circuits on 3 floors of the school. Some new stuff in the convent. Too bad we didn't get the LV work too.
We have about another week or so of full time, then things should slow down. Some classes are now in the Auditorium and other large rooms that will get a face lift after 2 and 3 reopen.
Among all this, I have managed to slip out and bid a few other jobs, hopefully we will have something start right after this is over.
