screened in deck considered wet location?

I have a deck that is getting screened in.3 sides of it will be screened while the existing wall at the house will be covered with beadbord. My question has to do with the wiring for the receptacles, lights, and fans that I will be installing. Does everything have to be GFI protected since it can get wet when it rains? Also does it have to be ran in UF? This will have a finished ceiling just like a sunroom. Is this considered a wet location area.

Thanks, Joe

Read the article 100 definition of "Location, Damp". I believe this describes your situation. The wiring will be within the wall, so that would not be a damp or wet location so conduit would not be required unless the wiring is exposed to physical damage.

I will add 210.8(A) states all 125V single phase 15-20 amp receptacles in the locations specified in (1) through (8) shall have GFCI protection for personnel.

210.8(A)(3) wants all outdoor recpetacles to be GFCI. There is not a definition for "outdoors" HAHA!! but the location does fall under the definition of "Damp" IMOP. So I would GFCI the receptacles.

Kevin

Edit to add the HAHA!! Just wanted to make sure everyone knew I was kidding...

I had the same problem last month. I used "bubble covers" and GFCI oulets. The room was big enough that I didn't think the fan could ever get wet so I didn't GFCI it. If you do a search for "Screened in porch" the post will some up. I would post a link, but I don't know how to.

Habital rooms. i.e. Furniture, appliances, etc. Add the number of outlets, wall switches needed for a habital room. Also, if rain, snow or other elements can affect the wiring, treat all wiring, devises etc. for that area. You can't go wrong.
