Is there a certern size (length) screw that you on weather heads. Say 1'1/4, 1'1/2, or how about 3'. I once used 2' on a outdoor tie box and hit the p-trap in the laundry room. Just curious what other guys are using.

I'm guessing that he's talking about SE cable weather-heads with the mounting hole at the top.

Our utility requires a minimum of 3/8" x 3" long.

But i have yet to see an inspection on those bolts.

Yes the SE cable weather heads. I have never had problem securing them but was just wondering what size screws guys use on the outside of house. I know it depends on the material of the house. I was referring to wood/sliding construction.

We prefer lags because over the years we've seen a few of the drops pull out the anchor at the POA and the drop was supported by the weatherhead.

We do not support the drop from a weatherhead-- that has it's own support. Heck the aluminum weather head would give out first anyway

We don't either but I have seen the POA pull out and the weatherhead is holding the drop from the pole. I've seen this more than once.

We can't use SE cable in Washington, our state rules do not allow it. But we have a very detailed drawing for support and size of the rigid service mast. I show pictures in my classes of services back east with 200 amp SE cables and us pipe and wires guys are amazed at how you can run SE on the outside of the siding.
