Hello,

I am looking for any specific requirements on cylinder tank filling stations. I didn't come across anything in NEC. Is there any special requiements for electrical hook-up and SCUBA tank filling stations and their compressors?

I am being offered one by a local fire department free for our Sherrifs department to utilize.
Any direction would help.

Thanks,

Nothing special about the electrical requirements...it is just a compressor. You do have to be very careful with the air intake location to make sure you are not sucking up exhaust fumes or other bad things to be placed in your SCUBA tanks. Also check the pressure. Many older fire department SCBA bottles used an operating pressure of 2016 psi. I think that most SCUBA bottles use 3000 psi. If this is an older compressor it may not be able to produce the required pressure. Also the fragmentation containment system, if there is one, may be too small to hold the SCUBA bottles.
