Sealing boxes from drafts in new work

I am planning to wire a green building using concealed ENT. My original plan was to use exterior-rated hubbed PVC boxes and use solvent to connect the ENT to the hubs. The rationale is to seal the interior of the boxes (and the ENT) from the area behind the drywall. Then, seal the front edge of the boxes where they emerge into the drywall. This is so the box interior, devices, wiring, and cover plate are in the conditioned space and separated from the unconditioned space behind the drywall.
But I have found it very difficult to find multi-gang (>2) and large hubbed outlet boxes (38in³+) that don't cost 2 arms and a leg.
I will probably be forced to use non-hubbed boxes with K/Os and PVC box connectors for the larger boxes. Unfortunately, these boxes generally have K/Os that have air leaks.
Can I wrap the exterior of the box with builder's joint tape without violating the box useability (and ire of the inspector)?
What NEC provision or box listing requirement would prohibit this?
Thanks.
