This message is directed towards Electrical Contractors working in or around Seattle, Washington.

The Electrical Contractors' representative to the City of Seattle's Construction Code Advisory Board (CCAB) has expressed an interest in leaving the board. He will stick around until a successor is appointed. So there is no formal announcement of an opening on the city's web site. Here is a link to the CCAB page: http://www.seattle.gov/sdci/about-us/who-we-are/construction-codes-advisory-board

The commitment involves a 2 hour meeting (noon to 2 PM) at the offices of the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspection (SDCI), on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays. Meetings are sometimes cancelled if there is insufficient business to bring before the board. The position is appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The appointment is for a 3 year period, though it can be extended if you desire to continue. I have been the Electrical Engineers' representative for about 4 years.

On the right side of the web page from the link above, there is a contact person's name, phone number, and email address. I would suggest you contact Jenifer, if you wish to express an interest.

I was notified today that the formal announcement has been made by the City of Seattle. Here is the message I received:
Today we issued the press release below making it official that we are looking for new board members. We are looking to fill the following positions that are open or are coming open:
- electrical contractor
- general contractor
- commercial building owner or operator
- developer and/or contractor on residential project
March 11 is the deadline for the submission of an application, resume, and letter of interest.

I won't copy the press release here - it is too long. But you can find it from the link I included in my initial post.
