Section 300.11(A)(2) states that wiring that is located within the cavity of a suspended shall not be supported by the support wires for the ceiling. In New York City, the suspended ceiling is supported by a "black iron" supported by rods. Can any wiring be supported by this rod or wire that is used to support the black iron??

Welcome to the forum. I wouldn't really count on that. Some inspectors may let it slide, even though you really pushing the bounds of the wording. If you really want to try it, I would call the guy that will be inspecting it.
