A conduit seal is required for each conduit leaving a Division 1 area, located within 10 feet of the boundary. This seal must minimize gas or vapor transfer beyond it, and the conduit section between the seal and exit must not have any fittings, except for an explosionproof reducer.

For Clarity lets say I am leaving the Class 1 boundary, I am going to exit the boundary after my seal off in 15ft, once that 15ft is up I have left the boundary. After I am outside the boundary of the Class 1 area that pipe run could have a fitting like a C body or LB to go into my MCC let me know if I am wrong but I believe it is just that small section between the boundary and the sealoff in which I can not have the fitting not all the way back to the MCC?

Let me know your thoughts

In most cases when you leave the Class I, Division 1 location you enter a Class I Division 2 location. However standard conduit bodies are permitted in Class I Division 2 locations.

the seal needs to be within 10' of the boundary. if it is 15' from the boundary, then it is not compliant.
