In NEC 310.10(H)5, "Sectioned" equipment bonding reads differently than just equipment bonding. Can someone clear this up for me? What is Sectioned equipment? and the different application of Table 250.122 if Sectioned Equipment?

Some multiconductor cables, usually in the larger sizes, will put in three EGC's to reduce the total cross-sectional area of the cable. The combined cross-sectional area of these three EGC's is equivalent to or exceeds the standard 250.122 EGC, i.e. its cross-sectional area.

As Smart stated it's a code permissible way to get several EGC's to make one larger one. Normally paralleling of smaller EGC's to make a larger one is not permitted.
