In Oregon, you cannot hire someone to simply sign for your electrical permits. All electrical work must be done under the permit and supervision of a licensed electrical contractor and their designated supervising electrician.
Here's a breakdown of the rules and your options:
Work performed by a licensed contractor
  • Permit must be pulled by the contractor. If a licensed electrical contractor is hired to do the work, they are legally required to pull the permit. Their supervising electrician's signature must be on the permit application to indicate their responsibility.
  • Responsibility is on the contractor. The contractor is fully liable for the work, and the supervising electrician is responsible for ensuring it is done to code. (y)
