Try 110-13(A).

If you are in CA there is an OSHPD requirement that equipment installed in Hospital buildings shall be anchored and braced to withstand the lateral forces and shall accommodate calculated displacements as required.

There may also be something in the UBC or the IBC depending on which one you are using.

Seismic Bracing

You have to refer to IBC to seeing if seismic bracing is required for non-structural components. Usually the structural engineer on the project can help you out with this but if not, here are the basic steps you need to follow...

- determine which version of IBC you need to follow, either IBC 2000, 2003 and 2006. You can easily check this by going to http://www.iccsafe.org/government/adoption.html

- determine which seismic use group you fall under, either I, II III or IV

- determine the Spectral Response Acceleration Coefficients. You can determine this by taking the zip code and going to http://eqint.cr.usgs.gov/eq-men/html/zipcode-06.html

- determine the Seismic Design Category (or Occupancy Use Category), which will be A, B, C, D, E or F

Based on this category, you can determine if seismic bracing is required for your project. Of course, I over simplified this a little. Each version of IBC is a little different but from my experience, no matter what version you use, the answer always comes out the same.
