Hi

maybe this should be under the NEC forum - but I hang out here ;)

I have been through 410.36 and I have done some research on the IBC

it looks like 2x4 lay in light fixtures over 2o pounds must have the 4 points of positive attachement and 2 independant support wires

my question is - we have a seismic rated drop ceiling (not a standard ceiling)

we think we should just have to do the 4 points of positive attachment (not the additional wires)

any of you guys ran into this before?

thanks

wire support

wire support

if their are some exceptions regarding when wire support is not required, i do not know them. we just use them as standard operating procedure.

If that's what they want...

I've not done a semicimic rated ceiling,(but I know what to do now) but based on what you said, it sounds like you need to 4 point and let the Ceiling guy * put in your two wire per light in on the span member. Make sure it will be done as to the their requirements. (They probably already know it anywas!)

I'd surely let them hang the additional two, I've not exactly developed the wrap...

*That's when you introduce yourself and open a 6-pack account... "Hey pick me up willl ya"!, YEAH OK ...
