I have been searching for information on wiring Self contained receptacles and switches used in mobile homes and can't find anything! I have been overwhelmed lately with circuits not working, arc faults, flickering lights, etc. All due to bad connections on self contained devices where you just push the wires onto the connectors. Usually the problem is with 3 NM wires being fed to the device. Does anybody know how many wires these terminals are listed for? I can't find the answer so please help.

Re: Self contained receptacles and switches

I've run across them from time to time, but I have no idea who (shamefully) makes them. They are a real "treat" to replace with a more normal arrangement, since the tails are so dog-gone short. I usually end up with a junction box with a flush plate a foot or so above the receptacle location where I install a new old work type box and traditional receptacle.

Another good idea that didn't work out.

Re: Self contained receptacles and switches

I had an old one of those mobile home recs in a junk pile. It's marked "US HARDWARE MFG". A little searching reveals that their contact information is:

817 East Maiden Street
Washington, PA 15301
Phone - 724.222.6515
Fax - 724.225.3290
Email - KevinB@ushardware.com

Best that I can come up with.
