Would an outside patio with a counter, grill, mini fridge, and ice maker that has a roof over just the counter be considered a separate structure? If so, being that it will be supplied by 4 separate circuits(lights, counter outlets, ice maker, fridge) this will be non-code compliant with 225.30? This structure would then need to have a sub panel installed where the circuits would then originate from, correct? Thanks.

Is this attached in any way to the main structure?

As long as the structure is not attached to the house via a roof or wall then yes it is separate and will need a panel, a main disco and appropriate # of ground rods. In 2008 code you would need a 4 wire feeder.

The back wall is attached perpendicular to the side of the house. Although I do not believe the roof will be attached the house.
I would not call this a separate structure.

Connect the 2 with something. Is the counter fastened to outside wall ?
I had a non compliant install to a cottage at my house, now that it has roof between it and house it meets code.No idea how some wood changed this electrically.

yes the counter is connected to the back wall. So being that this is physically touching the house make this part of the house and not a separate structure. That was my thought also.

I agree, not a seperate structure.

I would be cautious here as a building inspector may see it differently. It may be the roof that determines if it is a separate structure. It does not appear to be defined in the nec so I would check with the planning dept.
