Lets say you come off a 480v panel and set a transformer and then go to 208v panel. Is that 208v panel considered a seperately derived system? If so does it mean your have to ground and bound as if it was a service?

Re: Seperately Derived System

See Article 100 Definitions for Separately Derived Systems. I do not believe your installtion qualifies. If you determine you do have a separatley dervided system, the grounding requirements can be found at Article 250.30. (NEC - 2002)

This 208/120 volt installation appears to be a separately derived system as you describe it.

Ed: Consider this as a distribution transformer, owned by the utility.

Draw a transformer connected by the MGN system.

I would like to compare the two systems, as shown, from an electrical aspect.
