Got a call from a customer who wants to wire up a pump station for a septic system. I have 0 experience in this area but I did have an issue with a pump station in an area by a propane dispensing station. Inspector said residential septic pumps have some kind of exception so its not classified but not so with a commercial system. I call tank and pump station supplier , the thing is prewired and I ask about piping methods, seal offs etc and they say pvc and just seal the pipe so moisture won't come up into control box. I call State electrical inspector and he says NFPA 820 and it has to be done in rigid, seal off and then you can change wiring methods. I called contractor back and he was trying to get correct answer from tank supplier. Anyone run into this, I've never seen NFPA 820 before but it seems the pump and tank controls would have to rated to be in that atmosphere. It also seems like Rigid would get eaten up in that atmosphere.
