SER cable was use to service a 150 amp sub panel for a fellowship hall, does the code requires this cable to be in conduit going back to MDP, which is located in a blocked room?

What type of building construction? Possible in types III, IV, and V. I and II would have to be in conduit.

Also depends on the type of occupancy and where/what route it’s ran in the building?
(for example, drop ceiling is not permissible)

The cable was ran in PVC to fellowship hall which holds probably 100 people, but the church membership is less than 100. Then it runs up through the rafters to MDP which is housed in block building not accessible to general public, just maintenance personnel. From the rafter the cable runs about 5 feet down into top of MDP where its properly strapped. My concern is going back into the MDP, does the cable have to be in conduit?
