I would like to strip the outer sheath of an SER cable as shown in the image below to take advantage of the reduction in bend radius. It is my understanding that the sheath must be left on the portion of the cable that is in the 2" conduit and that only the portion of the cable that is in the pull box can be stripped of its outer sheath. Does anyone have experience doing this? Will I be able to untwist the individual conductors after I remove the outer sheath from the cable? I am planning to untwist the cable before pulling it through the conduit. Any advice you can give will be appreciated.

Any non-exposed portion of the cable can be stripped, even in conduit.

Untwisting the wires will make the bundle thicker because of the spirals.

Thanks, I really appreciate your help. Somehow I was thinking that SER cable when pulled through conduit had to have the sheath on it.

I would have to respectfully disagree. SER is listed as a cable assembly with jacket on. Conductors are not individually marked. 310.8.
