My friend and I are discussing artical 338 for using type SER cable as a feeder to sub panels and as a branch circuit to rooftop HVAC units in a two story commercial office building.
I have read Art. 338.10 (B)(4)(a) which refers me to Art. 334 Parts I and II excluding 334.80 which deals with Ampacity.
I believe the entirety of article 334 applies to the installation of type SER installed inside as a branch circuit or feeder, and as such section 334.12 "uses not permitted" ..... 334.12 (A) (2) indicated to me that if the cable would be exposed within a drop ceiling it may NOT be used.
My friend claims that Art 334 does not "mention" SER cable specifically so it would not apply.
What do you guys think ?
