SER cable to meter base

Curious as to the type of securing of SER cable to the back of an underground meter base. I'm installing a 100 Amp underground meter base and the panel has to be installed directly behind the base, flush mounted in the wall. I was going to run #2 SER from the back of the base to the bottom of the panel since I have almost nill bending radius for any type of PVC installation. My question is if I can just run the SER through a pvc connector in the back of the meter base or does cable HAVE to be clamped?
 
It sounds like you will need a clamp on both the meter base and the panel due to the described distance in between the two. As an inspector, I would have some concern on the unprotected cable inside the wall cavity. Local AHJ will make the final call.
 
why ser instead of se. as an inspector i would have no problem with the cable in the wall cavity as long as the cable was not ran horzontial thru several studs. keep as short as posible. some localities have ahj, call if possible

If it is an underground meter base then how will the meter reader find it? :D

You must fasten the cable at both ends however it seems you can run PVC and use an lb down into the panel. If this is a single phase hookup then SEU (2- hots and a bare neutral, is adequate.
