good morning, i live in a country where there are no formal electrical standards. the homeowner is required by the utility to run his own cable to where the meter will be. the utility shows up, hooks up the meter and walks away and thats the end of it... you are on your own after that. i have two properties ... they operate on u.s. standard 110v so the meter /service is two 110 legs , a neutral and a ground. at the meter box there are two 50 amp fuses one one each leg and is roughly 200 feet from the properties. the properties have operated successfully like this forever. recently they dug up the road and severed one of the cables. now they want me to relocate the meters to a spot about half the distance give or take.. in looking at the existing cables they appear to be 16 mm which is roughly equivalent to awg 6 as im sure you know. that seems small to me for this service. first a simple question ... is this described as a 100 amp service or a 50 amp service ? and second the REAL question.... the two new runs will be about 75 feet and about 125 feet ... is # 6 cable ok ? the next they have here is 25mm which is huge... please ... don't suggest i get a local electrician.... if you ever saw these guys work you would never turn on a light switch here... i'm on my own with this. i have the technical skills but not the knowledge to make this decision and the internet gives me a lot of conflicting info.

thanks

steven
