Service Conductor Size

I have service equipment with an adjustable 4000A MCB with a trip setting of 3000A. The calculated load for the building is 3000A (including 25% spare capacity and a future 600A disconnect). Do I need to size the service conductors for 4000A to match the potential ampacity of the gear, or for the calculated load only?

The conductors have to be sized for the calculated load; however, you already mentioned future additional loads.

If the plan is to maximize the service then you need to plan for it.
