Is there anything that prohibits 4/0 aluminum rated for 180 amps from being used from the meter to the panel/service disconnect on a 200 amp single phase 120/240V service in a commercial building? I was listening to a disagreement over that today and wanted another opinion. thx
 
152 amps. They were citing the table in 310.15 B 7 but that is only for residential if I remember correctly. And I think that table is no longer there in 14 NEC version, I don't have a code book handy where I am right now.
 
With a load of 152 amps, then 240.4(B) will permit the use of the 4/0 aluminum for this application.
