Service Disconnect and Main Stickers

What are the purposes of the ?MAIN? and ?SERVICE DISCONNECT? stickers that come with new panels? Where do they go and when do you use one, the other or both?

When the panleboard is used as a service disconnecting means.

230.70(B) requires the service disconnecting means to be permanetly identified as a service disconnecting means.

So, then that's what service disconnect is for. It goes on the panel just before where the utility service comes in.

The main goes on everything else...like a sub-panel? Does Main go on the branch circuit feeding the sub panel or the main breaker of the sub panel?
 
The "Main" sticker is an option not a requirement. I have used the "Main" sticker to indicate a backfed breaker in a panel used as a disconnecting means for a separate structure in accordance with 225.31.
