on residential instalation, if i use a meter enclosure with a main breaker in it, how far inside the house can i run the service entrance conductors?

Welcome to the Forum, 0308.

Wayne's right. The Service Disconnect is the main in the meter. That means the Main Bonding Jumper happens there, and the Grounding Electrode Conductor comes to it, too. The wires connected to the load side of the Service Disconnect, that head off to a panel, are a feeder. Feeders can be any length.

From the utility to the outlet.

Service Point. The point of connection between the facilities
of the serving utility and the premises wiring.

Service Conductors. The conductors from the service
point to the service disconnecting means.

Feeder. All circuit conductors between the service equipment,
the source of a separately derived system, or other
power supply source and the final branch-circuit overcurrent
device.

Branch Circuit. The circuit conductors between the final
overcurrent device protecting the circuit and the outlet(s).
