Service Disconnect vs. Device Disconnect

How can a fused or circuit breaker type 3P 4W disconnect switch used as a machine disconnect be recycled to be used as a service main disconnect? Is it possible to do this?

We have a 300A GE THLC Type Main Breaker with Shunt Trip (120/240V AC, 125 VDC) in a NEMA 2 enclosure with the outside operator hande. We would like to use this as a main service disconnect.

I think all you need to do is to verify that the item has been declared to be "service rated" by its manufacturer. Depending on how old it is, this may or may not be a "challenging" task. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.
