Can anyone give me the article for service drop conductors over rooftop equipment like a roof top unit. I know from past experience that there is a code on this but cant find it maybe its in the nesc. But the local poco spec'd a job 3 wks ago I ooked at it also and was good to go then today there is a 50"by 30" x26" rtu under the service drop attachment we this changed things. any info would be appreciated.

Nothing in the NEC applies to utility owned and controlled equipment.

Thankyou for the response I spoke with POCO today and the clearance is 42 inches from any permanent part of the structure i.e. signs, ac units etc. She said its part of NESC any permanent object to the structure is part of the structure. Which I thought, but I could not get a copy of the NESC.

What's the voltage?

Looking at an online 2007 version, and if I am interpreting correctly, once you get above 300V, the clearance goes up to 10'.
