Service Drop to go Underground

I have an existing 208/120 volt wye overhead service drop I am connecting to a 12.4KV, 300KVA, 3 phase Delta pad mounted transformer via a riser located on the utility pole then underground to the pad mounted transformer. I plan on using 3 #2/0, 1 #6 HMF/. 5" conduit from the pad mounted transformer to somewhere on the pole where I will splice in to the service drop. The service drop goes from the weatherhead on the upper wall of the building to the utility pole riser which it traverses down.

The service drop is 4, #2/0 overhead.

I did the calculations and determined the amp rating of cable I need for the secondary underground piece, but am not sure that the underground piece will mate with the service drop ok.

Does anyone know?

Re: Service Drop to go Underground

I meant to say #6GND/5" conduit, not #6 HMF/. 5" conduit.

Note that an individual told me that it was expected the existing aerial service drop could go underground in the conduit and concrete duct to connect underground to the pad mounted transformer maybe as a possibility. I highly suspect cable designed for underground will be required for the pad mounted transformer secondary so that a splice to the aerial service drop will be required somewhere located inside the riser on the utility pole.

The distance from the pad mounted transformer to the bottom of the riser that the service drop presently comes out of on the utility pole is only 10 feet. The present transformers are aerially distributed and ground mounted and this is the present connection to the service drop which incidentally comes out of the bottom of the riser on the utility pole.

Re: Service Drop to go Underground

Why not bring the underground conductors all the way out of the top of the pole riser, fashion drip loops, and after the drip loops splice on the overhead conductors?

Kinda' the same as an PoCo overhead service lateral attaching to an occupancy and splicing to the service entrance conductors.
