Service Entrance Conductor

Greetings,

For industrial facilities, where switchgear in one building can supply MCC in another building, would the feeder from switchgear building to MCC building be considered service entrance conductors.
What is your interpretation of this scenario. I encounter this on a regular basis now, was just wondering if NEC rules regarding sizing of supply conductors and grounded conductor apply in this scenario.

No, that would be a feeder, not service entrance conductors. See Art. 225, Part II and Art 430, Part VIII.

If the conductors in the switchgear in building A is supplying building B after the service disconnect then as David stated the conductors are feeders. If they're before the service disconnect then they could be SEC's.

A simple way to look at it is if the thing upstream of the conductor under consideration is the electric utility, then (and only then) is it a service conductor.
