Hello -

i just installed 4/0 SEC on a house.i had to go down the side of the house and then turn onto the back of the house. I had a real difficult time making that turn and I didn't really like how it turned out. Any suggestions on how to make that turn easier next time? Thanks

Yes , before the turn have it go straight then put a couple 2 hole straps near the corner real tight with tap cons. Then have some one pull it around the corner while you take a 2x4 and a sledge hammer and beat it until it flattens out tight around the corner.

Bend the cable into a sharp 180-degree bend; step on it if you have to to make a sharp crease. Then unbend it into a 90-degree bend and install it.

Are we talking about a flat 90 on the wall or a 90 around the corner? Either way, you'll get a sharper bend by over-bending it and then unbending.

What about 338.24?

338.24 Bending Radius. Bends in Types USE and SE cable
shall be so made that the cable will not be damaged. The radius
of the curve of the inner edge of any bend, during or after
installation, shall not be less than five times the diameter of the
cable.

:jawdrop:

No argument. We we were just teasing.
Oh, thank you. I didn't notice the Baloney Stuff in those posts. Sometimes it's hard to see. I should have known better.

I have wondered how some of them get so pretty though.

[h=3]conductorentions ......is this a word?[/h]If not, do you need it corrected?

You need to do a month’s worth of isometric exercises before you try to bend two 90’s in SEU cable when you’re 20’ or so up on a ladder. Try bending 45’s instead of 90’s when you’re wrapping around an outside wall.

How about bending it up/down on one side of the corner, then after a little vertical run bend it again to go horizontal but at same time transition to the other side of the corner?

Hope I explained that well enough to understand, would be easier to show with a picture, but I currently don't have one showing what I am getting at.

it's a pipe thing....

getting it to lay on the flat would be interesting...

Good picture of what I was trying to describe. May still look sort of funky, but will follow surfaces more closely than a single bend around a corner will.
