Service Entrance connectors

Traditionally, I use insulating piercing connector for service changes. I am considering using the IDEAL splicer/reducer SR-250 (link below). The purpose would be a cleaner look. I notice the UL listing is the same as the insulation piercing ones. What concerns me is that the hex socket set screws may loosen with winter summer seasons.

Has any one used these or have considered using these?

Doesn't the POCO cut them off anyway when they make the permanent connection? If so I would use the simplest/cheapest method available. Not to say that the connector you've posted is a bad choice. I wouldn't worry too much about ambient temperature changes playing a significant role in the loosening of the connectors.

Some do some don't. Seems that there are more and more that don't. Kind of a waste of time, manpower and materials.

The connector in question looks ok to me.

'Round these parts, they do. I just clip off enough strands on both wires to stick a Big Blue wire nut on, wrap with tape and call it good. It'll last long enough for the POCO to arrive.
