Can someone tell me what the maximum height of a breaker panel is?
I did a home inspection today (NEW HOME) where the panel height is excessive and will require a ladder to access some of the serviceable
parts. I also had the female home owner try to reach the breakers.
She would have to jump to get to the main. I looked up clearances in the NEC but couldnt find where it says maximum height for panels.

any help is appreciated!

To add to 480's post the 6'7" requirement is to the center of the operating handle of the breaker or disconnect, not to the top of the panel.

My first question is, "Is the homeowner really short, or is the breaker that high?"
I also can find nothing in the NEC except maybe 230.91, though it would still be arguable. I do seem to remember a long time ago that they had to be, "readily accessable". I don't really see a specific violation here except that it just really doesn't make sense why someone would do that.

Good find!! I guess I needed to keep looking. It does say "readily accessable" though, so my mind isn't totally shot :)

I'm not sure when your panel was inspected, but I think 240.24(A) was new to the 2005 NEC

Correct, the 6'7" requirement was added in 240.24(A) to mirror that of 404.8(A) which was already in the 2002 NEC.

Section 404.8(A) required circuit breakers used as switches to be mounted so that the operating handle in not more than 6'7" above the floor or working platform.

POCO here dictates meter height between 4'6" and 6'3".

Once in a while we have to pour a step to acomplish this.

I installed a four or six pack once and it was impossible to accomplish so I left the bottom two under 4'6"
