Hi Everyone. I have a pretty easy question.
We are adding a generator (100kw) to a existing 400A service. Currently, the 400A service has a fused disconnect for the building prior to feeding panels inside. The transfer switch and generator was already purchased in a package deal prior to us getting involved. Originally I was going to the ATS from the generator and transformer, then I was feeding the existing disconnect which then re-fed the existing panels. I was then informed that the ATS was not service entrance rated. Now I am thinking that I need to go into the 400A disconnect FIRST, then feed the ATS, then re-reed the panels. The only problem is, when someone throws the 400A disconnect it will start the generator, then they will have to walk to the generator to flip the breaker. Am I over thinking this? Im getting over the flu so not thinking clearly right now.
