We are in the process of wiring a retail building

Electrical inspector failed the electrical service on these grounds

338-4a
336-26

We are using type 4/0 SER cable which is rated 90 degree. For meter stack to main lug panel

He states that we should be in the 60 degree column which would be 150amp

I believe it should be 180amps(75 degree)on a 200amp circuit breaker

All equipment is rated for 75 degree & confirmed with the manufacturer.

Am I wrong?

Re: service entrance & sub feed to panel

Did you read the articles he gave you?

If this SE is used as a feeder inside you must follow 336-26.

You said meter stack to main lug panel, so it is a feeder.

I will guess it is inside the building.

338-4. Installation Methods for Branch Circuits and Feeders
(a)
Interior Installations. In addition to the provisions of this article, Type SE service-entrance cable used for interior wiring shall comply with the installation requirements of Parts A and B of Article 336 and shall comply with the applicable provisions of Article 300.
336-26 is is in part B of 336.

336-26. Ampacity
The ampacity of Types NM, NMC, and NMS cable shall be that of 60?C (140?F) conductors and shall comply with Section 310-15.

The 90?C (194?F) rating shall be permitted to be used for ampacity derating purposes provided the final derated ampacity does not exceed that for a 60?C (140?F) rated conductor.
I think the inspector is correct.

The 2002 book seems to specifically exclude 334.80 from the SE I/II requirements though.
