We have an approved set of drawings by city for 2500a service. The drawings show a metered ct and SB inside the building? The SB would be against the wall as service cables enter building. Would we need to install a disconnect between CT can and SB for service disconnect?

You need a service disconnect somewhere. SB? Switch Board?

are you saying i would need to add a disconnect between the CT can and 2500a Switchboard? Does a disconnect need to be added outside the building at the service entrance or can it be located indoors at service entrance. I was told it needed outside first. I am trying to look it up in NEC but cant seen to locate it with a reference to that rule.

I am asking because during a separate inspection the inspector and I got on the subject about the project and the service entrance was brought up. he said I would need a disconnect mounted on outside of building. I pointed out the drawings only show the indoor equipment and it was approved with city as such.

If switchboard has 6 or less "mains" it can be the service disconnect. Amount of conductor entry into building could be an issue, but sounds like you have very little before hitting this switchboard, NEC doesn't specify a distance just "nearest point of entry". Unless there are other local rules sounds NEC compliant to me if you meet six disconnect rule and/or exceptions.

2020 NEC sounds like could have some changes here - but so far only impacting one and two family dwellings.

the SE cables feeds into the switchboard 2500a main breaker first. Does the 6 or less breakers still apply? Sorry I ddint mention that first
