Can I extend underground service-entrance conductors ? I have to move a meter from the basement to outside and the conductors will be too short. I was thinking maybe I could extend the underground conductors. I don't have enough height to mount it on the side of the house and the roof line is not there to aloud me to put it on the roof.

I have had an inspector tell me I can't before, and I didn't. However, 230.46 seems to be real clear. Sometimes it is easier to make them happy. For your situation though, it may be easier to throw the book at him...

This was the same inspector that told me you can't splice unfused wire. Don't know where that came from, it is done all the time.
