Service equipment on single family residence?
Is it required to be mounted on the structure
or can it be remote mounted within the plain
sight 50 ft. rule?????

No distance in the 2002 NEC. There was a 2002 proposal for a limit of 15 meters. I was rejected at the annual meeting, but the proposal is back for the 2005 cycle.
